Candid announced today that it has launched a product integration with Claude, the AI assistant developed by Anthropic, bringing Candid&#8217;s trusted nonprofit and foundation data directly to Claude users. As a partner in Anthropic&#8217;s Claude for Nonprofits initiative—a new program designed to help nonprofits work more efficiently through AI—Candid has developed a secure Model Context Protocol connector to securely provide comprehensive sector information through Claude. The integration simplifies research and saves time by making critical data available in the AI tool organizations already use for their daily work.

They can also get the latest news and expert guidance synthesized from Candid&#8217;s library of research, training, and articles. Users must register for a free Candid account to activate the connector, which ensures information is pulled only from publicly available data through a controlled and secure connection.

Candid partners with Anthropic to bring trusted data to Claude for Nonprofits

New York, NY—August 7, 2025. Candid today released its 2025 Nonprofit Compensation Report, the most comprehensive large-scale study of executive compensation in the social sector. Now in its 25th edition, the report draws exclusively from IRS Forms 990 and 990-EZ, analyzing 217,556 compensation records from 130,794 tax-exempt organizations for fiscal year 2023. 
 The data provides a detailed view of compensation trends across the sector, revealing consistent patterns based on organization size, location, and mission area, along with persistent gender disparities in executive pay. 
 Key findings from the 2025 Nonprofit Compensation Report include:

In 2023, the District of Columbia reported the highest median executive pay at $189,088, followed by states in the Northeast. At the other end of the spectrum, Puerto Rico reported the lowest overall median at $73,600. Among U.S. states, Wyoming had the lowest median at $85,517.</li>

Candid releases most comprehensive report on U.S. nonprofit executive compensation

New York, NY—April 29, 2025. New research from Candid, the most comprehensive source of data on nonprofits and philanthropy, reveals that 14,015 nonprofits across the United States would be at risk of exhausting their cash within three months if government grants were to stop today, potentially jeopardizing nearly 2.8 million nonprofit jobs. 
In New York State alone, 1,366 nonprofits could run out of cash within three months if government grantmaking stops, putting more than 361,000 nonprofit jobs at immediate risk. The hardest-hit fields include human services, education, housing and shelter, and the humanities—sectors that millions of Americans rely on for basic needs every day. 
The analysis offers the clearest picture to date of how quickly these funding cuts might affect nonprofits’ sustainability, especially among organizations that rely heavily on government funding. Candid’s research team is closely examining how even a temporary disruption in that funding stream could threaten nonprofit survival and destabilize essential community services. 
“Government grants are a primary revenue source for many nonprofits. Over 35,000 nonprofits—about a third of government grantees—rely on these grants for more than 50% of their total revenue,” said Cathleen Clerkin, Ph.D., associate vice president of research at Candid. “Our team is analyzing this data not just nationally, but at the state level, across subsectors, and even down to individual congressional districts, to better understand where the risks are most acute.”
